- The problem: Western Group needed to drive down operational costs
- Scope of service: Implementation of an Energy Efficiency program; data analysis and smart metering to identify energy drivers. Implementation of energy-efficient lighting, refrigeration systems and Demand Side Management.
- Outcome: A total saving of R21mn over 6 years across 15 stores was achieved. Accumulated emissions reduction of 12,651 tonnes of CO2 (equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 29,195 hectares of forest in a year)
